AJ Michalka is an American actor, singer-songwriter, musician and model who was best known as one two members of the duo "Aly and AJ. The duo performs along with her sister, Aly Michalka. Born in Torrance, California, AJ was influenced by her mother, Carrie, who herself was an accomplished musician. AJ was a child of the sea, spending her childhood mostly in Torrance and Seattle. The two began playing the guitar and piano in the early years of their lives. They were already well versed on the subject by the time they reached their adolescence. AJ started acting when she was 5 years old and played roles in theatre productions at churches. AJ participated in her school's musical productions. AJ began her professional career in acting in 2002 as an 11-year-old girl for the show "Passions'.
